A permission-aware knowledge assistant that answers staff questions from policies and procedures, with citations and confidence handling.
Concept project — a self-initiated exploration by Webroaden with a fictional company. It is not a client engagement and shows no real-world results.
Interface concept, rendered in code. Names, figures and content are illustrative.
The challenge
In large organizations, policies live in hundreds of documents with overlapping versions. Staff need accurate answers quickly, but an assistant that answers confidently from the wrong version is worse than none. The concept focuses on grounded answers, access control and measurable quality.
Approach
The decisions that shape the product — each one chosen to solve a specific part of the problem.
Documents are parsed, versioned and chunked with section-level metadata so every answer can cite its exact source.
Hybrid keyword and vector search filtered by the user's access groups before any text reaches the model.
The assistant cites sources, states uncertainty and declines when sources are insufficient, offering a route to a person instead.
A curated question set scored for faithfulness and relevance on every prompt, model or pipeline change.
Intended outcomes
Design goals for this concept — not measured results from a live product.
Every answer traceable to a specific document section
No content surfaced beyond a user's permissions
Quality regressions caught before release, not after
